At ABC Veterinary Hospitals, our doctors and staff believe that our hospitals are places where science and compassion coexist. Michael Weber, DVM
Owner of ABC Veterinary Hospitals located in Pacific Beach, Kearny Mesa,
and Uptown.
Dr. Michael Weber is a graduate from Texas A+M University. His life-long dream was to become a veterinarian. After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Weber received extensive experience working at a busy multi-doctor hospital as well as an emergency clinic in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Weber fulfilled another life-long dream when he moved to San Diego in 1989. His special areas of interest include internal medicine, preventative and wellness health care, dentistry, and general surgery. Dr. Weber describes himself as a “dog person”, but he loves working with cats and rabbits too!
Outside of work, Dr. Weber enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, camping, hiking, bicycling, and (of course) the beach!
Dr. Jennifer Heidt
Dr. Jennifer Heidt is from St. Louis, MO. She has a Bachelor’s in Animal Sciences from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a D.V.M. degree from the University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation in 2006, she moved to San Diego. She has two dogs, Amy (a beagle mix) and Auburn (a Jack Russell terrier). She works at the ABC Uptown location and is ready to meet you and your special pet(s) soon!
Dr. Emily Fassbaugh
Dr. Emily Fassbaugh was born in Baltimore, MD, but has lived in San Diego most of her life. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from UC David and then graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She began at ABC Veterinary Hospital as a vet assistant through college and vet school. She currently resides in Clairemont with her husband, Ben, her two daughters, three dogs, three cats, and one ball python.
Dr. Chari Wessel
Dr. Chari Wessel was born into a career military family and grew up on Navy air stations all over the country. She graduated from Iowa State University Veterinary College in 1976 and spent six year in Iowa farm practice before the bitter cold drove her westward and into pet practice. She has practiced in San Diego since 1992 and has been a relief doctor since 2000. When she’s not working, she raises canaries and is a volunteer tall ship crew member for the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
Dr. Nanette Leto
Dr. Nanette Leto graduated in 1986 from the University of Florida, College of Agriculture with a B.S. in Animal Science. She then attended Kansas State University for her DVM degree in the class of 1990. Her career took her to San Diego, where she learned up-and-coming, cutting-edge medicine in practice. Her skills include all aspects of Internal Medicine with special interest in Geriatrics and Endocrinology. She was born and raised in Florida and is the youngest of five children. Some of her hobbies include yoga, weightlifting, snow skiing, water sports, watching Gator football, and spending time with her pets.
Dr. Beth Custalow
Dr. Beth Custalow is from Newport News, VA. She graduated from VA Tech with a double major in Biology and Animal Science. She then pursued a Master's degree in Animal Science at VA Tech. After receiving her Master's degree, she pursued a life long dream and graduated from VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She then tended to race horses, polo ponies and show horses for four years on the East Coast, before moving to CA and focusing on small animal medicine. She has enjoyed the challenges of working as a general practitioner, relief veterinarian and as an emergency veterinarian. Now, she loves practicing at ABC Veterinay Hospital in Pacific Beach and finds it very rewarding. San Diego fosters her love of the "outdoors" and her hobbies include: sailing, dressage, mountain biking and hiking with her dog, Basil.
