Dr. Laura Kosmo is a native San Diegan from north county who has always had a passion for animals. From horseback riding, to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, to herpetology she’s loved all animals big and small. She attended the University of California in Santa Barbara where she received her B.Sc. with honors in Biology and minored in Spanish. During college she was an active member in the pre-vet club, worked as a veterinary technician, and volunteered her free time in the shelter and rescue community. After college she continued working as a vet tech until she moved to the Caribbean to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St Kitts. During vet school she became an avid scuba diver, volunteered for the Leatherback sea turtle research club, and traveled to South Africa to work with wildlife and veterinary conservationists. She also attended the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine where she ompleted her clinical rotation year. After graduating in 2012 she moved back home to sunny San Diego and has worked as a general practitioner ever since. Dr Kosmo’s special interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, emergency/critical care, exotics, and dentistry. During her free time, Dr Kosmo also enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and taking her pitbull mixes (Penelope, Sugar, and Bane) to dog beach.
